That is all I need. Lord give me strength. Sister Jeannette Mariam Hines Martin, the daughter of the late Mr. Reginald Hines and Mrs. Veleria Baker Pankey, was bom in Evans County, Georgia. She was the oldest of four children. She was educated in the schools of Evans County. She was an honors graduate, in the Class of 1956 from Evans County High School. Also, she was an honors graduate from Savannah State College, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics-Foods and Nutrition, and she did advance study at University of Georgia. She worked in Chicago, Illinois as a Nutritionist at Cook County General Hospital, for several years. Later she moved to Bmnswick, Georgia and worked with the Coastal Georgia Regional Development Center. She was a lifelong member of Jemsalem Missionary Baptist Church, Groveland, Georgia. Upon moving to Bmnswick, she joined Zion Baptist Church and served both churches, faithful as a choir member, workshop leader and doing many other Christian duties, as she served God and mankind. Her demise on Friday, May 21, 1999, has left a pall of sorrow upon her family, her many friends and her associates. She was preceded in death by one son, Byron Martin. She leaves to cherish her memories, one daughter, Ms. Valinda Mathis of Bmnswick, GA; her mother, Mrs. Veleria Baker Pankey of Aberdeen, MD; two sisters, Ms. Donna McDonald of Passaic, NJ and Ms. Althamesa Pankey of Aberdeen, MD; two brothers, Mr. Edmund Pankey of Aberdeen, MD, Mr. Irvin Pankey of Visalia, CA; four aunts, Mrs. Mary Brown of Waycross, GA, Mrs. Evelyn Kirkland of Claxton, GA, Mrs. Theresa Swinson of Claxton, GA and Mrs. Effie Dell Simpson of Passaic, NJ; one uncle, Mr. Winton Baker of Sanford, FL; two aunts-in- law, Mrs. Mae Baker of Sanford, FL and Mrs. Mary Hines of Pembroke, GA; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
