She was 74 years old. She was born January 7, 1924 to the late Jasper and Truemilla Rivers Everett in Collins, Georgia where she attended school. She was employed at the Claxton Manufacturing Company for over 20 years. At an early age she joined Charlton Grove Baptist Church. She was a member of the senior choir and finance secretary of the Home Burial Society. In 1940, she was united in Holy Matrimony to T.J. Mercer in Tattnall County. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daugh- ter, Irene Mercer Hunter (Willie) of Claxton, Ga., four sisters, Robertha Byrd, Catherine Bacon, Ruby Dell Baker, all of Claxton, Ga., and Maggie Brewton of Mt. Vernon, NY, five sisters-in-law, Marie Holloway, Cobbtown, Ga., Elizabeth Harper and Mattie Lee Miles, both of Chicago, IL, Sadie Ruth Everett, Metter, Ga., and Ella Everett, New Rochelle, NY, four brothers-in-law, Ulyssess Bacon, McKenzie Baker, both of Claxton, Ga., Charles Horton, Metter, Ga., and J.D. Brewton, Mt. Vernon, NY, eight deceased siblings, four grandchildren, Harold Mercer (Benita) of Greensboro, NC, Tony Mosley (Rashawn), Raleigh, NC, Yvette Hampton and Dorene Mosley, both of Claxton, Ga., seven great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends. I left to be with Jesus, feed it with your care. Grow it with devotion, and spread it everywhere. Dont fret because my leaving no need to feel distress.
