He departed this life on Friday, April 19, 1996 at St. Joseph Hospital in Savannah after a short illness. The Evans County native was a member of St. Luke Bap- tist Church of Daisy. He was a former member of the City Coun- cil for the City of Lake Wales, Fla., he was a member of the Executive Board for Northside School in Statesboro, and a member of the St. Paul Masonic Lodge # 77 in Lake Wales, Florida. He leaves to cherish his memories a loving wife, Carolyn Lovett Peters, Statesboro, Ga.; five daughters, Pamela Y. Par- rish, North Korea, Patricia Peters, Elizabeth, N.J., Angela Jones, Hagan, Ga., Beverly Westbrooks, Powder Springs, Ga., and Kay Peters of Bellville, Illinois; one son, Eric Peters Claxton, Ga.; one son, Eddie Donnell Peters who has proceeded him in death; one brother. Rev. James Strickland, Savannah, Ga.; three sons- in-law, Glenn Parrish, John Jones, and Kerry Westbrooks; six step children, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Miles, Statesboro, Ga. Mr. and Mrs. Earnest Lovett, III, Statesboro, Ga., Ms. Sherrel Lovett, Sharon Lovett, and Mr. and Mrs. Pereze Lovett, all of Atlanta, Ga., and Mr. and Mrs. Cedric Wynn of Rochester, N.Y.; three sisters, Ollie Mae Daniels, Lake Wales, Fla., Willie Mae Bacon and Edna Mae Porter, both of Pembroke, Ga.; nine grand- children, seven step-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends. When I must leave you for a little while please don't grieve and shed wild tears and hug your sorrow thru the years, but start out bravely with a gallant smile and for my sake and in my name live and do all things the same; Ive lived my life and done my best, so can I take that step beyond: and set my spirit free. I did not want to go at first, I fought with all my might, I will not be far, I promise that, and hope youll always know, my spirit will be close to you wherever you may go. Youve given me the best this world had to offer. Thank you for loving me; you know I love you too; thats why its hard to say good- bye and end this life with you.
