He was a 1953 graduate of Evans County High School. A veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Thomas Grove A.M.E. Church where he served as Sunday School Superintendent, on the Trustee Board, on the Steward Board, and a Choir mem- ber, a class leader, President of the Layman's Organiza- tion, Chairman of the Finance Committee, an official delegate to the District Conference. He was a Lay Speaker. In addition, he was a member of the St. Joseph's Lodge No. 76 and a member of the Statesboro Consistory No. 348. He was united in Holy Matrimony to Willene Thompson. He leaves to mourn former wife Pauline Hendrix for 18 years; his daughters Bobbie Ray Stuckey, Cathy Brewton of Claxton, Georgia and Rhonda Smith of Arlington, Virginia; one son, Carl Hendrix of Savannah, Georgia; one brother, Bernard Hendrix of Bronx, New York; nine grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends. He leaves his wife, Willene Thompson, and La Wanda Hendrix and La Rae Hendrix of Claxton, Georgia. "In the sweet by and by we shall meet again!"
