EARLY LIFE Miss Vernese Dorothy Mikei, the daughter of Mrs. Gertrude Scott and the iate Mr. Jessie Scott was born in Evans County. She was educated in the schoois of Evans County. She graduated saiutatorian of the Ciass of 1952. She was an honor graduate of Savannah State Coilege. PROFESSIONAL LIFE Miss Mikeis professionai accomplishments were in the field of educa- tion. She was secretary to the registrar of Albany State College. She was a business education teacher in public schools in LaGrange, Georgia. She was secretary in several departments at Savannah State College before being named as Administrative Assistant to the President. CHRISTIAN LIFE Miss Mikel joined the Elagan Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. She later joined St. Benedict Catholic Church of Savannah, Georgia. At the time of her death, she was a communicant of Nativity of Our Lord Church of Thunderbolt, Georgia. SURVIVORS Miss Mikel will be missed by many. Elowever, with her passing the fami- ly is thankful to God our Father that her life was very fruitful, spirited and full of joy for her friends, neighbors, associates and fellow mankind. Eier remaining family includes: her mother, Mrs. Gertrude Scott of Elagan, Georgia; one brother, Mr. Elubert Mikel of Cleveland, Ohio; one sister-in-law, Mrs, Lucille Mikel of Cleveland, Ohio; a step brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Scott; two nieces, Mrs. Doris Tomblin of Elagan, Georgia and Mrs. LaOuita Mikel of Bellville, Georgia; three nephews, Mr. Ronald Mikel of Bellville, Georgia, Mr. Edward Mikel of Cleveland, Ohio and Mr. Ronnie Tomblin of Elagan, Georgia; seven aunts, Mrs. Mae Etta Berry of Glennville, Georgia, Mrs. Bessie Blocker and Mrs. Eloise Nails of Claxton, Georgia, Mrs. Elizabeth Carter and Mrs. Josie Bell Mikel of Elagan, Georgia, Mrs. Annie Lee Bacon of Manassas, Georgia and Mrs. Eloise Mikel of Vidalia, Georgia; four uncles, Mr. Charlie Blocker of Claxton, Georgia, Mr. J. C. Mikel and Mrs. Elenry Carter of Elagan, Georgia and Mr. Elenry Mikel of Savannah, Georgia; four devoted friends, Mrs. Cora Lee Mikel of Claxton, Georgia, Mrs. Cathy Staf- ford of Savannah, Georgia and Dr. and Mrs. Efeyward Anderson of Savan- nah, Georgia and a host of other relatives and friends.
