ANDERSON, PRESIDING INTERMENT- HAGAN CHAPEL CEMETERY HARPERS FUNERALHOME CLAXTON, GEORGIA OBITUARY Mrs. Etta Mae Oglesby was born on August 8, 1899 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to the late Rev. Charles and Mrs. Anna McLendon. She became a member of Tar City Baptist Church in Tattnall County at an early age and later joined the Hagan Chapel Baptist Church in Hagan, Georgia under Rev. C. L. Anderson. She was united in holy matrimony to Mr. Dowes Oglesby. To this union 5 daughters and 5 sons were born. Her husband preceded her in death. She departed this life on Thursday, January 8, 1987 at Chatham Nursing Home, Savannah, Georgia after a long illness. She leaves to mourn three daughters, Mrs. Ola Mae Richardson of Claxton, Mrs. Bereatha Calloway of Savannah, and Mrs. Helen Holmes of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; four sons, Mr. Emitt Oglesby and Mr. James D. Oglesby of Claxton, Mr. Rogers Oglesby of Fort Lauderdale, Fla. and Mr. Alonza Oglesby of Warm Springs, Ga.; two brothers, Mr. Louis McLendon of Savannah, Ga., Rev. Willard McLendon of Atlanta, Ga.; one sister, Mrs. Mary Jackson of Savannah, Ga.; three sisters-in-law, Mrs. Emma Johnson, Mrs. Doreatha McLendon and Mrs. Georgia Mae McLendon; two daughters-in-law, Mrs. Viola Oglesby and Mrs. Grace Oglesby; one son-in-law, Mr. Genard Calloway; twenty-one grandchildren, thirty-three great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She heard His tender voice say, Come home my child and rest. You lived for others, and for me You did your best.
