OBITUARY 
A precious one from us is gone, A voice \we loved is 
still, A place is vacant in our honfie. The world can never fill. 
Ms. Jewell Lane was born August 14,1924 and departed 
this life on Thursday, April 18,1985 at Talamadge Memorial 
Hospital after a short illness. She was the daughter of Gevena 
Lane of Claxton. She joined Thomas Grove A.M.E. Church at 
an early age, later confessing her faith in Christ. She served 
as a trustee, church secretary, a missionary. President of the 
usher board, program committee and many other 
organizations. She aiso served as treasurer of the IMAACP 
until her illness. 
She leaves to cherish her memory, her mother, Mrs. 
Gevena Lane, formerly of Claxton, and now presiding in 
Toledo, Ohio: seven children, Alfred Lane and Barbara Kyles 
of Toledo, Ohio, Billy Lane of Rocky Ford, Cathy Lane and 
Sharon Cooper of Atlanta, Roland Lane of the U. S. Air Force 
and Jerome Lane of Claxton; three sisters, Mrs. Madie Bacon 
and Mrs. Eilen Goolsby of Toledo, Ohio and Mrs. Earnestine 
Brewton of Toms River, New Jersey; two daughters-in-law, 
Carolyn Lane of Toledo, Ohio and Inez Lane of Rocky Ford; 
two sons-in-law, Reuben Kyles of Toledo, Ohio and Reginald 
Cooper of Atlanta; sixteen grandchildren and two great- 
grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
