OBITUARY 
Oh to be ready when death shall come 
Oh to be ready to hasten home 
And sweetly, gently to pass away 
From earths dim twilight and into day. 
Mr. Levander Levant was born in Liberty County, 
Georgia, September 29, 1909, to the late Mr. Emmitt and 
Anna Levant. He departed this life September 16, 1983, at 
Evans Memorial Hospital, Claxton, Georgia, after a short 
illness. 
He joined the Jerusalem Baptist Church at an early age. 
In the year of 1941, he was joined in Holy Matrimony to 
the late Miss Mary Barnhill. To this union three children 
were born. 
He leaves to mourn his passing; his children, Mrs. 
Lavern Palmer of Claxton, Ga., Mrs. Bea Cooper of Hagan, 
Georgia, and Mrs. Wilhemena Murray of Savannah, Georgia: 
four brothers, Alexander Levant, Thomas Levant, Clinton 
Levant, Fletcher Levant, all of Claxton, Georgia; three 
sisters, Bessie Baker, Alberta Young, both of Claxton, 
Georgia, and Rose Love of Cincinnati, Ohio; three 
sons-in-law, Mr. Rosevelt Palmer, Mr. Elzie Cooper, James 
Murray, all of Hagan, Georgia; five sisters-in-law, Mrs. 
Earnstine Lavant, Julia Lavant, Miley Mae Levant, Thelma 
Levant, all of Claxton, Georgia, Lucille Mikel of Cleveland, 
Ohio; three brothers-ln-law, Mr. Zeak Baker of Claxton, 
Georgia, Jeff Love, Cinniette, Ohio, Hubert Mikel of 
Cleveland, Ohio; nine grandchildren and one great 
grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and 
friends.
