OBITUARY 
Mrs. Susie J. Gardner was born July 4, 1884 in Borden 
County to the late Mr. and Mrs. C. Jones. She departed this 
life August 5, 1981 in Candler Nursing Home after a short 
illness. At any early age she joined the Mt. Calvary Baptist 
Church. At an early age she was joined in Holy Matrimony to 
the late Ben Ford. To this union two children were born, one 
of which preceded her in death. 
She leaves to mourn a devoted daughter, Mrs. Willie Lue 
Knights of Claxton, Georgia; one son-in-law, Sophia Knights 
of Claxton, Georgia; two step-daughters, Lila McNeal and 
Mattie Bell, all of Savannah, Georgia; one step-son, David 
Gardener, Savannah, Georgia; one niece, Lillie Bell Jackson, 
Savannah, Georgia; several nephews, cousins and other 
relatives and friends.
