Page: [1] Know all men by these present that I Mason Barkley of Macon County NoC [North Carolina], a Cherokee Indian, hereby nominate constitute and appoint William H Thomas of Haywood County NoC [North Carolina] my true and lawful attorney in fact to prosecute my claims for decased [deceased] Cherokees of whom I am the legal representative, under the act of July 29, 1848, One by the name Wallace [unclear text: Barkley ] who was residing in the Cherokee nation in 1836, at the time of the ratification of the treaty of 1835, who was a brother of mine and a half blood Cherokee.
