The document states that a reservation was granted to Arkalooki in August of 1819, under the treaties of 1817 and 1819, that was unjustly taken by white settlers. The memorialists claim that they never received any compensation for their property nor were they able to live there for fear of violence against them.</dc:description><dc:description>Digital image and encoded transcription of an original manuscript, scanned, transcribed and encoded by the University of Tennessee, Knoxville Libraries in 2001, as part of GALILEO, funded in part by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.</dc:description><dc:format>text/html</dc:format><dc:format>image/jpeg</dc:format><dc:identifier>wt197</dc:identifier><dc:language>eng</dc:language><dc:publisher>Manuscript held by the Special Collections Library, The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, TN, MS2058 William Holland Thomas, box 1, folder 2, document wt197.</dc:publisher><dc:relation>Mode of access: World Wide Web.</dc:relation><dc:relation>System requirements: AT&amp;T DjVu browser plug-in needed to view images of documents.</dc:relation><dc:rights>http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/NoC-US/1.0/</dc:rights><dc:subject>Cherokee Indians--Treaties</dc:subject><dc:subject>Cherokee Indians--Land tenure</dc:subject><dc:subject>Cherokee Indians--Claims</dc:subject><dc:title>Memorial of the wife and child of Arkalooki (reservee no 229)</dc:title><dc:type>Text</dc:type></oai_dc:dc>
