26 was Recd [Received]  this morning and Mr [unclear text: Stephen ]  Whitaker being here I Drop you A few lines by him I am still here and Expect to Remaine [Remain]  here till the  
15 of January I Recd [Received]  your memorial for the Cherokees I have not persented [presented]  it yet but will Do so to morrow [tomorrow]  I Can not [Cannot]  say what Will be tis fate but would be glad you could gite her [get here]  at sum Erley [some Early]  Day to Derect [Direct]  the Cours [Course]  you Wished persued [pursued]  in it through out [throughout]  the Cherokee land bill is still in the senate and one in the Commons Mr Whitaker Can tell you all about the one in the Commons and I send you A prented [printed]  bill of the one in the Senate you Can see the propositions thare [there]  to Despose [Dispose]  of the Surrender land I have herd [heard]  nothing of the Claim for monts [months]  that you was trying to gite [get]  for me I hop [hope]  you will Rite [Write]  me if you Dont Com [Don't Come]  on in A shorte [short]  time what or wether any thing [whether anything]  will be got on it or not I am Anxious to see you but as Mr Whitaker has bin [been]  here sum Dayes [some Days]  & Can tell you of more then [than]  I Could Write I will stop for the presrent [present]  the bill will pass for janaluskee
