Governor (1803-1809 : Sevier)</dc:creator><dc:date>1804-07-19</dc:date><dc:description>This is a letter dated July 19, 1804 from John Sevier, Governor of the State of Franklin (1785-1788) and Governor of Tennessee (1796-1801, 1803-1809) to Colonel William Barnett and Brigadier General Buckner Harris of Jackson County, Georgia.  Sevier writes in response to a letter from Buckner and Harris (see tcc917) stating that the Georgia commissioners were ready to proceed with laying out a road between Georgia and Tennessee through the Cherokee Nation.  Sevier says that the Tennessee commissioners will be ready to meet with the Georgia commissioners on August 15 at Cherokee leader James Vann's house in the Cherokee Nation.  He also promises to forward this information to Colonel Return J.
