He mentions the case of William Augustus Bowles, a British officer who became embroiled in the affairs of the Creek Nation and attacked Spanish Florida.  He also asserts that Nicolls is misguided in recent criticisms of Hawkins and the U.S. government with respect to Indian affairs, and even suggests that Nicolls is posing as a British officer while seeking personal gain.
