Seven of those vessels contained mostly black troops, and three of them contained ammunition and presents for the Indians. According to Hawkins, three hundred men were landed on the island, and they have sent for the Indians to come and receive the presents, and he reports that the Red Sticks have arrived, ostensibly for that purpose. He mentions also that a number of runaway slaves have joined the British.</dc:description><dc:description>Digital image and encoded transcription of an original manuscript, scanned, transcribed and encoded by the Digital Library of Georgia in 2001, as part of GALILEO, funded in part by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.</dc:description><dc:format>text/html</dc:format><dc:format>image/jpeg</dc:format><dc:identifier>tcc885</dc:identifier><dc:language>eng</dc:language><dc:relation>Mode of access: World Wide Web.</dc:relation><dc:relation>System requirements: AT&amp;T DjVu browser plug-in needed to view images of documents.</dc:relation><dc:rights>http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/NoC-US/1.0/</dc:rights><dc:source>Manuscript held by the Hargrett Rare Book and Manuscript Library, The University of Georgia Libraries, Telamon Cuyler, box 76, folder 25, document 17.</dc:source><dc:subject>Creek Indians--Government relations</dc:subject><dc:subject>Great Britain--Foreign relations--1800-1837</dc:subject><dc:subject>Great Britain--Foreign relations--United States</dc:subject><dc:subject>United States--Foreign relations--Great Britain</dc:subject><dc:subject>Fugitive slaves</dc:subject><dc:subject>Sailors, Black--Great Britain</dc:subject><dc:title>Letter, 1814 Dec. 21, Fort Hawkins, [Georgia to] Peter Early, Governor [of Georgia], Milledgeville / Colo[nel] Benjamin Hawkins</dc:title><dc:type>Text</dc:type></oai_dc:dc>
