Hawkins writes that General Andrew Jackson intends to bring a force of mounted troops and Indians from Tensaw (in Alabama) to join his forces in routing "hostile" Indians at Perryman(s) (in Georgia) and "hostile" fugitives from Pensacola. He makes recommendations about troop movements and supply depots. Hawkins also describes Miccosukee (also Mikasuki), the principal settlement of the Seminole Indians, and remarks that he is awaiting General Jackson's decision on the propriety of launching an attack into the Seminole Country.</dc:description><dc:description>Digital image and encoded transcription of an original manuscript, scanned, transcribed and encoded by the Digital Library of Georgia in 2001, as part of GALILEO, funded in part by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.</dc:description><dc:format>text/html</dc:format><dc:format>image/jpeg</dc:format><dc:identifier>tcc884</dc:identifier><dc:language>eng</dc:language><dc:relation>Mode of access: World Wide Web.</dc:relation><dc:relation>System requirements: AT&amp;T DjVu browser plug-in needed to view images of documents.</dc:relation><dc:rights>http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/NoC-US/1.0/</dc:rights><dc:source>Manuscript held by the Hargrett Rare Book and Manuscript Library, The University of Georgia Libraries, Telamon Cuyler, box 76, folder 25, document 16.</dc:source><dc:subject>Creek Indians--Government relations</dc:subject><dc:subject>Creek Indians--Wars</dc:subject><dc:subject>Seminole Indians--Wars</dc:subject><dc:subject>United States--History--War of 1812</dc:subject><dc:title>Letter, 1814 Dec. 13, Fort Hawkins, [Georgia to] Peter Early, Governor of Georgia, Milledgeville / Colo[nel] Benjamin Hawkins</dc:title><dc:type>Text</dc:type></oai_dc:dc>
