In the first affidavit, Robert Ellison and Joseph James state that James Morris and John Camp, both of Jackson County, Georgia, are living with their families across the boundary line on Indian territory. In the second affidavit, William Ellison testifies that Thomas Trammill is also living across the line. Both statements indicate that the accused men have been making improvements on the land and are in violation of state laws aimed at preventing such trespasses on Indian land.</dc:description><dc:description>Digital image and encoded transcription of an original manuscript, scanned, transcribed and encoded by the Digital Library of Georgia in 2001, as part of GALILEO, funded in part by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.</dc:description><dc:format>text/html</dc:format><dc:format>image/jpeg</dc:format><dc:identifier>tcc828</dc:identifier><dc:language>eng</dc:language><dc:relation>Mode of access: World Wide Web.</dc:relation><dc:relation>System requirements: AT&amp;T DjVu browser plug-in needed to view images of documents.</dc:relation><dc:rights>http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/NoC-US/1.0/</dc:rights><dc:source>Manuscript held by the Hargrett Rare Book and Manuscript Library, The University of Georgia Libraries, Telamon Cuyler, box 67, folder 01, document 03.</dc:source><dc:subject>Indians of North America--Land tenure</dc:subject><dc:subject>Boundaries</dc:subject><dc:subject>Trespass</dc:subject><dc:title>[Affidavits] of Robert Ellison, Joseph James, and William Ellison, Jackson County, Georgia, 1817 May 15 / sworn to before Jno.
