Devereux. Montfort testifies that he was empowered to secure provisions from the "friendly" Indians over the Ocmulgee River from Hartford, Georgia, for the use of U.S. troops under the command of Brigadier General John Floyd. Montfort reports that he was prevented from crossing the river by Captain Thomas, commanding the militia stationed at Hartford (Pulaski County, Georgia). A further sworn statement attesting to Montfort's authority to secure provisions also appears within this document.</dc:description><dc:description>Digital image and encoded transcription of an original manuscript, scanned, transcribed and encoded by the Digital Library of Georgia in 2001, as part of GALILEO, funded in part by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.</dc:description><dc:format>text/html</dc:format><dc:format>image/jpeg</dc:format><dc:identifier>tcc813</dc:identifier><dc:language>eng</dc:language><dc:relation>Mode of access: World Wide Web.</dc:relation><dc:relation>System requirements: AT&amp;T DjVu browser plug-in needed to view images of documents.</dc:relation><dc:rights>http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/NoC-US/1.0/</dc:rights><dc:source>Manuscript held by the Hargrett Rare Book and Manuscript Library, The University of Georgia Libraries, Telamon Cuyler, box 64, folder 01, document 01.</dc:source><dc:subject>Indians of North America--Government relations</dc:subject><dc:subject>Military supplies</dc:subject><dc:subject>United States.
