Elholm to Edward Telfair, Governor of Georgia (1786-1787, 1790-1793), dated February 2, 1793, four copies of separate letters, and a map of the defensive plan of Georgia's western boundary. Elholm reports to Telfair on his tour of the western frontier, provides specific information about the various defensive stations along the border, and makes recommendations regarding the construction of blockhouses to repel Indian attacks. He includes four copies of other letters. The first, dated February 2, 1793, is directed from Elholm to Colonel James Little and regards the alleged murder of a white woman by Indians. The second, dated January 23, 1793, is from Major General Elijah Clarke to George Henning and contains an order to erect a blockhouse near the Currahee Mountain (Stephens County, Georgia). The third, dated January 23, 1793, is directed from Clarke and Elholm to Little and relates to the disbursement of funds for the construction of blockhouses for public defense. The fourth, dated January 25, 1793, is from Clarke to Major Henry (?) Gaither and concerns the number of troops needed to adequately patrol the frontier and man the various defensive stations. Another copy of this fourth letter appears as tcc355. Also included with this document is a large hand drawn map that depicts the location of the stations and blockhouses along the Georgia frontier.</dc:description><dc:description>Digital image and encoded transcription of an original manuscript, scanned, transcribed and encoded by the Digital Library of Georgia in 2001, as part of GALILEO, funded in part by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.</dc:description><dc:format>text/html</dc:format><dc:format>image/jpeg</dc:format><dc:identifier>tcc799</dc:identifier><dc:language>eng</dc:language><dc:relation>Mode of access: World Wide Web.</dc:relation><dc:relation>System requirements: AT&amp;T DjVu browser plug-in needed to view images of documents.</dc:relation><dc:rights>http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/NoC-US/1.0/</dc:rights><dc:source>Manuscript held by the Hargrett Rare Book and Manuscript Library, The University of Georgia Libraries, Telamon Cuyler, box 62, folder 03, document 04.</dc:source><dc:subject>Indians of North America--Claims against</dc:subject><dc:subject>Boundaries</dc:subject><dc:title>[Letter with enclosures and] map of the defencive [sic] plan of the western frontier [of Georgia], 1793 Feb. 2, [to] Edw[ar]d Telfair, Governor of Georgia / Adj[utant] Gen[era]l Augustus C.G.
