Page: [1] At Camp Ustonally 27th June 1818 Sir, our commissioners have extended the line as far as they have deemed it necessary, and I earnestly hope that their unexempled [unexampled] unanimity, and great exertion may be duly appreciated, by their respective States -- In the ceded Territory (at last treaty) Mr Joseph Vann held, an indian title, for which by the terms of the Treaty, he is to be paid, at least for the improvements, and as no arrangement has been made for payment, Mr Vann according to the terms of the Treaty aught [ought] to hold unmolested title untill [until] that point is adjusted -- He having made complaint to me I told him as the land lay within your State, I would advise you thereof -- and hope you will take such measures as to you may seem discreet, please write on receipt, -- this is wrote on my knee and amidst great noise & confusion Page: [2] Very respectfully your obed Hum Sert [obedient Humble Servant] [Signed] Jos.
