Couper, who is captain of the Glynn Hussars, offers the governor the services of his company, stating that the volunteers will be in readiness whenever they are called. He explains that the company would have already marched to the Creek Nation had their own frontier on the St. Marys River not been exposed to attack and in need of protection.</dc:description><dc:description>Digital image and encoded transcription of an original manuscript, scanned, transcribed and encoded by the Digital Library of Georgia in 2001, as part of GALILEO, funded in part by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.</dc:description><dc:format>text/html</dc:format><dc:format>image/jpeg</dc:format><dc:identifier>tcc721</dc:identifier><dc:language>eng</dc:language><dc:relation>Mode of access: World Wide Web.</dc:relation><dc:relation>System requirements: AT&amp;T DjVu browser plug-in needed to view images of documents.</dc:relation><dc:rights>http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/NoC-US/1.0/</dc:rights><dc:source>Manuscript held by the Hargrett Rare Book and Manuscript Library, The University of Georgia Libraries, Telamon Cuyler, box 03, folder 03, document 01.</dc:source><dc:subject>Military assistance</dc:subject><dc:subject>Glynn County (Ga.)--Militia--Mobilization</dc:subject><dc:subject>Creek War, 1836</dc:subject><dc:subject>Military service, Voluntary</dc:subject><dc:title>Letter, 1836 June 2, Waynesville, Wayne C[oun]ty, [Georgia] to William Schley, Milledgeville, [Georgia] / J[ames] Hamilton Couper</dc:title><dc:type>Text</dc:type></oai_dc:dc>
