Waters to Wilson Lumpkin, Governor of Georgia (1831-1835), echoing an earlier letter to General John Coffee (tcc700). Waters asserts that several individuals, including John Hamilton, Andrew Hamilton, Zachariah Slayton, Philip Coleman, Clinton Webb, Mr. Green, and John Miller, unlawfully cleared and cultivated his land along the Chattahoochee River. Waters claims this land as a Cherokee descendant, which some of the above individuals disputed in their own legal claims (tcc701). Waters states that the unlawful intrusion has limited the number of acres that he himself is able to cultivate. He therefore asks the governor to have these individuals removed from his property. Another letter related to this dispute is tcc704.</dc:description><dc:description>Digital image and encoded transcription of an original manuscript, scanned, transcribed and encoded by the Digital Library of Georgia in 2001, as part of GALILEO, funded in part by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.</dc:description><dc:format>text/html</dc:format><dc:format>image/jpeg</dc:format><dc:identifier>tcc703</dc:identifier><dc:language>eng</dc:language><dc:relation>Mode of access: World Wide Web.</dc:relation><dc:relation>System requirements: AT&amp;T DjVu browser plug-in needed to view images of documents.</dc:relation><dc:rights>http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/NoC-US/1.0/</dc:rights><dc:source>Manuscript held by the Hargrett Rare Book and Manuscript Library, The University of Georgia Libraries, Telamon Cuyler, box 01, folder 46, document 08.</dc:source><dc:subject>Cherokee Indians--Land tenure</dc:subject><dc:subject>Cherokee Indians--Claims</dc:subject><dc:subject>Cherokee Indians--Legal status, laws, etc.</dc:subject><dc:title>[Letter] 1832 Jan. 30, Bryan County, Geo[rgia], [to] Wilson Lumpkin, [Governor of Georgia], Milledgeville, Geo[rgia] / Major Geo[rge] M.
