Page: [1] Cherokee Agency 26th Novr [November] 1829 Sir On the 3rd Inst. [Instant] I addressed a letter from Nashville Tennessee to his Excellency Govr. [Governor] Forsyth of Georgia informing him that I have been appointed by the President of the United States to collect the best testimony to be had, that would enable him to determine on the true line of partition between the lands of the Creek nation from those of the Cherokees, and that I had recvd. [received] instructions from the secretary of War to repair as soon as possible to the Cherokee Nation on that duty -- In that letter I informed the Govr. [Governor] that I would reach the Cherokee Agency about the 22nd Inst. [Instant] where I would be glad to receive from him any information he might possess on that subject -- I am now here ready and waiting for the necessary Page: [2] information from either of the two parties, and not hearing from Govr. [Governor] Forsyth on the subject I have thought in his leaving the Executive Chair it may have escaped his recollection or attention. I have therefore determined to hire an express and send the communication direct to you, and hope you will find it convenient to furnish me with such information and evidence on the subject as may be in your possession.
