Dear Sir, 
We have duly received your letter of the 13th inst. [instant]  In one which we addressed to you yesterday, we advised you that we had promptly attended to your former communication, and we enclosed to you the reply of the Secretary of War at that moment received.  
Should you believe that we can be in any degree serviceable, in the enforcement of the direct apeal [appeal], which you have made to the President, be pleased to advise us, and command our best exertions. The present position of the Creek business, forbids us to go into details on that subject~
