Barnard suggests enlisting the aid of some of the Cusseta and Coweta chiefs, as he complains that the Chehaw and Hitchiti leaders have been of little or no help to them. The letter also mentions Major David Adams, who was involved in surveying and drawing the line, and one of Barnard's sons, who was employed with Hawkins. Barnard also comments on the progress of farming, spinning, and weaving among the Creeks.</dc:description><dc:description>Digital image and encoded transcription of an original manuscript, scanned, transcribed and encoded by the Digital Library of Georgia in 2001, as part of GALILEO, funded in part by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.</dc:description><dc:format>text/html</dc:format><dc:format>image/jpeg</dc:format><dc:identifier>tcc681</dc:identifier><dc:language>eng</dc:language><dc:relation>Mode of access: World Wide Web.</dc:relation><dc:relation>System requirements: AT&amp;T DjVu browser plug-in needed to view images of documents.</dc:relation><dc:rights>http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/NoC-US/1.0/</dc:rights><dc:source>Manuscript held by the Hargrett Rare Book and Manuscript Library, The University of Georgia Libraries, Telamon Cuyler, box 01, folder 11, document 14.</dc:source><dc:subject>Creek Indians--Treaties</dc:subject><dc:subject>Creek Indians--Land tenure</dc:subject><dc:subject>Boundaries</dc:subject><dc:subject>Surveys</dc:subject><dc:title>Letter, 1804 May 17, Fort James [to] Col[onel] Benjamin Hawkins / Timothy Barnard</dc:title><dc:type>Text</dc:type></oai_dc:dc>
