Ga November the 5th 1842 To His Excellency Charles J McDonald Sir I had the honour [honor] to Receive your Communication of the 18th of October Wishing me to forward to the Executive Department a Correct Statement of the amount of pay Due Each Officer, Noncommissioned, officer, & private Under my Command -- As i am not aware of What Length of time your Excelency [Excellency] wished me to compute the pay for, -- I might add that i am under the impression that Mounted Militia is Entitled to the Same Pay & Emoluments as Cavalry of the U.S. if So it May Be necessary to Make a Statement of the time Each Detachment was mustered into Service; That Under Lieut. Johnson was mustered [added text: in ] on the 19th of March (to Wit) one Lieut. two Sergants [Sergeants] two Corparals [Corporals] & twenty Six Privates.
