McDonald, Governor of Georgia (1839-1843), stating that the Indians on the Georgia frontier are not limited to the group led by an Indian referred to as Tustunnuggee, who recently surrendered. Jernigan asserts that all of the Indian groups in Florida are familiar with the area along the Georgia border and visit it frequently. He informs the governor that since Tustunnuggee's surrender, other Indians have made additional inroads from Florida northward in the direction of the Okefenokee Swamp. He credits his own vigilant efforts along the border with the prevention of further attacks.</dc:description><dc:description>Digital image and encoded transcription of an original manuscript, scanned, transcribed and encoded by the Digital Library of Georgia in 2001, as part of GALILEO, funded in part by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.</dc:description><dc:format>text/html</dc:format><dc:format>image/jpeg</dc:format><dc:identifier>tcc656</dc:identifier><dc:language>eng</dc:language><dc:relation>Mode of access: World Wide Web.</dc:relation><dc:relation>System requirements: AT&amp;T DjVu browser plug-in needed to view images of documents.</dc:relation><dc:rights>http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/NoC-US/1.0/</dc:rights><dc:source>Manuscript held by the Hargrett Rare Book and Manuscript Library, The University of Georgia Libraries, Telamon Cuyler, box 52, folder 10, document 05.</dc:source><dc:subject>Tustenuggee</dc:subject><dc:subject>Border patrols</dc:subject><dc:subject>Georgia.
