McDonald (Governor of Georgia, 1839-1843) in response to the governor's request for an estimate of the costs of maintaining two companies of troops for three months near the Okefenokee Swamp. He also tells the governor that there are still Indians along the Georgia border and that they are a concern to the citizens there, and he asks the governor to relay to him any information that he receives about Indians in the area of the Okefenokee Swamp. Jernigan also complains of having to borrow rations from private citizens and asks the governor to authorize the quartermaster to repay those citizens for the supplies that they have loaned the troops.</dc:description><dc:description>Digital image and encoded transcription of an original manuscript, scanned, transcribed and encoded by the Digital Library of Georgia in 2001, as part of GALILEO, funded in part by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.</dc:description><dc:format>text/html</dc:format><dc:format>image/jpeg</dc:format><dc:identifier>tcc648</dc:identifier><dc:language>eng</dc:language><dc:relation>Mode of access: World Wide Web.</dc:relation><dc:relation>System requirements: AT&amp;T DjVu browser plug-in needed to view images of documents.</dc:relation><dc:rights>http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/NoC-US/1.0/</dc:rights><dc:source>Manuscript held by the Hargrett Rare Book and Manuscript Library, The University of Georgia Libraries, Telamon Cuyler, box 52, folder 09, document 02.</dc:source><dc:subject>Seminole Indians--Claims against</dc:subject><dc:subject>Border patrols</dc:subject><dc:subject>Military supplies</dc:subject><dc:subject>Georgia.
