The situation of Florida at the present moment engaged on her southern border, in a war of extermination with the Seminole Indians, and threatened on the North by Invasin [Invasion]  from the Creeks, is truly embarrassing. The position of the Creek Indians located in the bosom of the powerful state of Alabama. and Surrounded as they are by the white settlements, forbids the belief, deluded as they, are, that they can entertain a hope of sustaining themselves in that Country, It is believed they have at all times kept up a communication with the Seminoles, and that when pressed by the forces of Georgia and Alabama, They will endeavor to escape to the Peninsula of Florida. should this be the case, the south Eastern Counties of Georgia, and a large portion of this Territory will be desolated in the retreat, to prevent this evil, I would Respectfully suggest the propriety of Stationing such a force on the Eastern frontier of the Nation, as will hold the enemy in check. I have sent Genl [General]  Searcy the bearer of this letter to confer with your Excellency on the subject and to whom I beg leave to refer you for the necessary information
