The purpose of the draft is to muster troops for an expedition against the Seminoles in Florida (Second Seminole War, 1835-1842). Dill explains to Schley that the draft would significantly deplete the local male population, making the settlers vulnerable to Indian hostilities and possibly inciting slaves to revolt.</dc:description><dc:description>Digital image and encoded transcription of an original manuscript, scanned, transcribed and encoded by the Digital Library of Georgia in 2001, as part of GALILEO, funded in part by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.</dc:description><dc:format>text/html</dc:format><dc:format>image/jpeg</dc:format><dc:identifier>tcc561</dc:identifier><dc:language>eng</dc:language><dc:relation>Mode of access: World Wide Web.</dc:relation><dc:relation>System requirements: AT&amp;T DjVu browser plug-in needed to view images of documents.</dc:relation><dc:rights>http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/NoC-US/1.0/</dc:rights><dc:source>Manuscript held by the Hargrett Rare Book and Manuscript Library, The University of Georgia Libraries, Telamon Cuyler, box 50, folder 05, document 02.</dc:source><dc:subject>Draft</dc:subject><dc:subject>Seminole War, 2nd, 1835-1842</dc:subject><dc:subject>Georgia.
