Butts, of Macon, Georgia, to Governor William Schley (Governor of Georgia, 1835-1837). Butts offers the use of his steam boat, called the Tomochichi, for transporting troops and supplies from Darien (McIntosh County, Georgia) to Florida, probably associated with the Second Seminole War, (1835-1842). Tomochichi was the name of an Yamacraw Indian in the Savannah area who negotiated with James Oglethorpe, founder of the colony of Georgia, and ultimately visited England with him. Butts tells the governor that if he wants to take advantage of this offer he should contact Agent John Rowland in Darien.</dc:description><dc:description>Digital image and encoded transcription of an original manuscript, scanned, transcribed and encoded by the Digital Library of Georgia in 2001, as part of GALILEO, funded in part by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.</dc:description><dc:format>text/html</dc:format><dc:format>image/jpeg</dc:format><dc:identifier>tcc553</dc:identifier><dc:language>eng</dc:language><dc:relation>Mode of access: World Wide Web.</dc:relation><dc:relation>System requirements: AT&amp;T DjVu browser plug-in needed to view images of documents.</dc:relation><dc:rights>http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/NoC-US/1.0/</dc:rights><dc:source>Manuscript held by the Hargrett Rare Book and Manuscript Library, The University of Georgia Libraries, Telamon Cuyler, box 50, folder 04, document 06.</dc:source><dc:subject>Steamboats</dc:subject><dc:subject>Seminole War, 2nd, 1835-1842</dc:subject><dc:subject>Transportation, Military</dc:subject><dc:title>Letter, 1836 Feb. 1, Macon, [Georgia] to William Schley, [Governor of Georgia], Milledgeville, Georgia / James R.
