Benton to Governor William Schley (Governor of Georgia, 1835-1837) in which Benton pledges both himself and his staff to any regiment in the Georgia Militia that needs men for the fight against unnamed Indians (most likely Seminoles) in either Florida or Alabama. A note on the wrapper indicates that the letter writer's name is Warren R. Benton; however, this does not appear to correspond to his signature.</dc:description><dc:description>Digital image and encoded transcription of an original manuscript, scanned, transcribed and encoded by the Digital Library of Georgia in 2001, as part of GALILEO, funded in part by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.</dc:description><dc:format>text/html</dc:format><dc:format>image/jpeg</dc:format><dc:identifier>tcc551</dc:identifier><dc:language>eng</dc:language><dc:relation>Mode of access: World Wide Web.</dc:relation><dc:relation>System requirements: AT&amp;T DjVu browser plug-in needed to view images of documents.</dc:relation><dc:rights>http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/NoC-US/1.0/</dc:rights><dc:source>Manuscript held by the Hargrett Rare Book and Manuscript Library, The University of Georgia Libraries, Telamon Cuyler, box 50, folder 04, document 04.</dc:source><dc:subject>Georgia.
