Dear Sir 
I have just received your two communications of the 21st. Inst. [Instant]  for which I thank you. I fully concur with you in the opinion, that the claims of Georgia upon the Federal govt. [government]  for reimbursment [reimbursement]  of expenses, in defending our people, from the aggressions of the Simenole Indians &c [et cetera] . is just & ought to be paid without delay. I am apprized [apprised]  however, that those claims have & will again encounter strong opposition in Congress. I shall do all I can to prosecute the claims successfully. If they can be got through the House of Rep. [Representatives]  I can pass them in the Senate. They will have to pass the ordeal of the House first, as that branch originates the appropriations.  
Messrs. Cooper & Black, have promised me to introduce the subject to-morrow, I have & shall aid them.
