Wales, a surveyor, writes to Georgia Governor John Forsyth (1827-1829) on June 15, 1829 to transmit a map (no longer attached) of what would have been the boundary line between the Creek and Cherokee Nations within the limits of Georgia prior to the last cession made by the Creeks. Wales describes his survey, giving specifics about area rivers and landmarks, the course of the boundary, and reasons for believing it to be the true boundary. He also mentions encountering Hugh Montgomery, U.S. Agent to the Cherokees, who protested against the survey. The enclosures mentioned are no longer attached.</dc:description><dc:description>Digital image and encoded transcription of an original manuscript, scanned, transcribed and encoded by the Digital Library of Georgia in 2001, as part of GALILEO, funded in part by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.</dc:description><dc:format>text/html</dc:format><dc:format>image/jpeg</dc:format><dc:identifier>tcc512</dc:identifier><dc:language>eng</dc:language><dc:relation>Mode of access: World Wide Web.</dc:relation><dc:relation>System requirements: AT&amp;T DjVu browser plug-in needed to view images of documents.</dc:relation><dc:rights>http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/NoC-US/1.0/</dc:rights><dc:source>Manuscript held by the Hargrett Rare Book and Manuscript Library, The University of Georgia Libraries, Telamon Cuyler, box 49, folder 05, document 01.</dc:source><dc:subject>Cherokee Nation</dc:subject><dc:subject>Creek Nation</dc:subject><dc:subject>Surveying</dc:subject><dc:subject>Boundaries</dc:subject><dc:subject>Indian agents</dc:subject><dc:title>[Letter] 1829 June 15, Milledgeville, [Georgia to] John Forsyth, Governor [of Georgia] / Samuel A.
