[November] 10 1815 Sir, I have the honor to lay before your Excellency an extract of a letter which I have received from the department of war, in relation to the Militia, which in my letter of the 13th ultimo to your predecessor, Governor Early, I requested might be assembled at Fort Hawkins, for the service of the united states. I am happy to have it in my power to say that the Indians above the Spanish Boundary line have recently, given no cause of apprehension to our Commissioners; nor does it appear that the Seminola's have taken any steps to carry into effect their [added text: late ] threats of hostility. I have therefore to request that the militia may not be assembled. still I am of opinion that until the prospect of opposition shall entirely subside, the detachment should be held in readiness to assemble I have the honor to be most Respectfully Sir, your Obdt.
