Sir 
Mr Robert Montgomry a respectable Carracter [Character]  who resides Immidiately [Immediately]  on that part of Indians boundary line Next to the Cherokee lands and opposite to Worfords settlment [settlement]  has some Bussiness [Business]  to Transact at the seat of Government. he is an intelegint [intelligent]  man & can give your Excellency much information on the subject of the Contemplated road to be opened to [illegible text]  West point & Tallico as he has taken great pains to inform himself & has Lately made a Tower [Tour]  over the Chittehooche river with an [unclear text: old Cart ]

and [added text: at ]  the request of some of the Indian Cheifs [Chiefs]  has made a way passable we learn the Indians are very ancious [anxious]  at present for this road to be opened. Mr Montgomery can give [deleted text:  [unclear text: your E ]  ]  you an accurate statement as to the amount of the Expenc [Expense]  which will completely Defray the Expences [Expenses]  on this subject on the part of Georgia should that expence [expense]  fall on us Colonel James Vann of the Cherikee Nation is now with me & states to me that it is fully Expected by the Cherikees that Worfords settlement will be remoovd [removed]  very soon
