Page: [1] Jackson County 13th of Jary [January] 1804 His Excelency [Excellency] Govenor [Governor] Millidge Sir Mr Robert Montgomry a respectable Carracter [Character] who resides Immidiately [Immediately] on that part of Indians boundary line Next to the Cherokee lands and opposite to Worfords settlment [settlement] has some Bussiness [Business] to Transact at the seat of Government. he is an intelegint [intelligent] man & can give your Excellency much information on the subject of the Contemplated road to be opened to [illegible text] West point & Tallico as he has taken great pains to inform himself & has Lately made a Tower [Tour] over the Chittehooche river with an [unclear text: old Cart ] Page: [2] and [added text: at ] the request of some of the Indian Cheifs [Chiefs] has made a way passable we learn the Indians are very ancious [anxious] at present for this road to be opened.
