The first is a sworn statement respecting the loss of a horse and equipment by Archer Norris during an attack by a party of unnamed Indians that the militia company, under the command of Captain Needham Norris and Lieutenant Thomas Hay, had pursued along the frontier. The second is a true affidavit given by Needham Norris and Samuel Knox to Oglethorpe County Justice of the Peace William Stokes in support of the said incident involving Archer Norris. The second statement also reveals that Lieutenant Hay was killed in the altercation, which took place in May of 1794.</dc:description><dc:description>Digital image of original manuscript, scanned by the University of Georgia Libraries in 2000, as part of GALILEO, funded in part by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.</dc:description><dc:format>text/html</dc:format><dc:format>image/jpeg</dc:format><dc:identifier>tcc373</dc:identifier><dc:language>eng</dc:language><dc:relation>Mode of access: World Wide Web.</dc:relation><dc:relation>System requirements: AT&amp;T DjVu browser plug-in needed to view images of documents.</dc:relation><dc:rights>http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/NoC-US/1.0/</dc:rights><dc:source>Manuscript held by the Hargrett Rare Book and Manuscript Library, The University of Georgia Libraries, Telamon Cuyler, box 44, folder 05, document 01.</dc:source><dc:subject>Indians of North America--Claims against</dc:subject><dc:subject>Georgia.
