Atkinson, at Satilla, Brantley County, Georgia to William Niblack (?), at Louisville, Jefferson County, Georgia, dated January 28, 1798. Atkinson reports that Indians have recently killed some livestock in the neighborhood. He discusses the frequent encroachments by the Indians going towards Colerain, Camden County, Georgia to trade and suspects that the situation will soon deteriorate. He refers to the Trader's Hill Massacre (March 1793) in which a party of Creek Indians killed a number of settlers and stole trade goods and slaves.</dc:description><dc:description>Digital image of original manuscript, scanned by the University of Georgia Libraries in 2000, as part of GALILEO, funded in part by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.</dc:description><dc:format>text/html</dc:format><dc:format>image/jpeg</dc:format><dc:identifier>tcc372</dc:identifier><dc:language>eng</dc:language><dc:relation>Mode of access: World Wide Web.</dc:relation><dc:relation>System requirements: AT&amp;T DjVu browser plug-in needed to view images of documents.</dc:relation><dc:rights>http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/NoC-US/1.0/</dc:rights><dc:source>Manuscript held by the Hargrett Rare Book and Manuscript Library, The University of Georgia Libraries, Telamon Cuyler, box 44, folder 02, document 01.</dc:source><dc:subject>Indians of North America--Claims against</dc:subject><dc:subject>Creek Indians--Claims against</dc:subject><dc:title>[Letter] 1798 Jan. 28, Satilla, [Georgia to William Niblack ?] / [N ?] Atkinson</dc:title><dc:type>Text</dc:type></oai_dc:dc>
