I do myself the honor to transmit your Excellency the enclosed Affidavit which will convince you of the actual Departure of Colo. [Colonel]  Alex [unclear text: McGilvery ]  for New York -- Your excellency will make use of it as you think proper  
It being of publick [public]  concern I thought it my duty to give the earliest information, which I Shall continue to do on all like occasions
