McHenry discusses an unnamed treaty (possibly the Treaty of Coleraine, 1796) to which the Creeks agreed and advises that the state of Georgia remain patient with respect to further land cessions. McHenry mentions that the unnamed treaty is enclosed, but it does not appear in this collection.</dc:description><dc:description>Digital image of original manuscript, scanned by the University of Georgia Libraries in 2000, as part of GALILEO, funded in part by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.</dc:description><dc:format>text/html</dc:format><dc:format>image/jpeg</dc:format><dc:identifier>tcc098</dc:identifier><dc:language>eng</dc:language><dc:relation>Mode of access: World Wide Web.</dc:relation><dc:relation>System requirements: AT&amp;T DjVu browser plug-in needed to view images of documents.</dc:relation><dc:rights>http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/NoC-US/1.0/</dc:rights><dc:source>Manuscript held by the Hargrett Rare Book and Manuscript Library, The University of Georgia Libraries, Telamon Cuyler, box 77, folder 17, document 04.</dc:source><dc:subject>Creek Indians--Treaties</dc:subject><dc:subject>Creek Indians--Government relations</dc:subject><dc:subject>Indian land transfers</dc:subject><dc:title>[Letter] 1796 Aug. 23, War Office [to] Governor of Georgia / James McHenry</dc:title><dc:type>Text</dc:type></oai_dc:dc>
