Campbell and James Meriwether and Georgia Commissioners Thomas Glascock and James Blair to the leaders of the Cherokee Nation concerning a negotiation meeting. The commissioners would like to meet with the leaders of the Cherokee Nation, but have not been successful thus far in convincing the Cherokees to attend. Much of the letter consists of arguments for the Cherokees' attendance. The Cherokees' refusal to meet with the commissioners is largely due to their belief that the commissioners merely want to treat for more land, and the Cherokees do not intend to part with any more land. This document is referred to in tcc473 and tcc474.</dc:description><dc:description>Digital image of original manuscript, scanned by the University of Georgia Libraries in 2000, as part of GALILEO, funded in part by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.</dc:description><dc:format>text/html</dc:format><dc:format>image/jpeg</dc:format><dc:identifier>tcc054</dc:identifier><dc:language>eng</dc:language><dc:relation>Mode of access: World Wide Web.</dc:relation><dc:relation>System requirements: AT&amp;T DjVu browser plug-in needed to view images of documents.</dc:relation><dc:rights>http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/NoC-US/1.0/</dc:rights><dc:source>Manuscript held by the Hargrett Rare Book and Manuscript Library, The University of Georgia Libraries, Telamon Cuyler, box 77, folder 03, document 04.</dc:source><dc:subject>Cherokee Indians--Government relations</dc:subject><dc:title>[Letter] to the cheifs [sic] hedmen [sic and] warriors of the Cherokee Nation, 1823 Jan. 20, Cherokee Agency / Duncan G.
