Jackson argues that the Cherokee people will be much better off if they remove to land west of the Mississippi River, and he says that they must remove since the situation is beyond anyone's control. Jackson tells the Cherokees that he will be sending commissioners to negotiate favorable terms for their removal and emigration, and he expresses hope that they will accept the advice that he claims to give them as a friend.</dc:description><dc:description>Digital image and encoded transcription of an original manuscript, scanned, transcribed and encoded by the Digital Library of Georgia in 2002, as part of GALILEO, funded in part by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.</dc:description><dc:format>text/html</dc:format><dc:format>image/jpeg</dc:format><dc:identifier>pam013</dc:identifier><dc:language>eng</dc:language><dc:relation>Mode of access: World Wide Web.</dc:relation><dc:relation>System requirements: AT&amp;T DjVu browser plug-in needed to view images of documents.</dc:relation><dc:rights>http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/NoC-US/1.0/</dc:rights><dc:source>Manuscript held by the Hargrett Rare Book and Manuscript Library, The University of Georgia Libraries, E99.C5 J3, box N/A, folder N/A, document N/A.</dc:source><dc:subject>Cherokee Indians--Government relations</dc:subject><dc:subject>Indians of North America--Southern States</dc:subject><dc:subject>Cherokee Indians--Relocation</dc:subject><dc:title>To the Cherokee tribe of Indians east of the Mississippi River</dc:title><dc:type>Text</dc:type></oai_dc:dc>
