Heard details troop movements and battles associated with the Revolutionary War, specifically describing attempts to secure upper South Carolina and Georgia for the Americans. He discusses Tory activity in both states and lauds the bravery of revolutionary troops from North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia. Heard also mentions a convention of Creek and Cherokee Indians assembled in Augusta, Georgia for the purpose of negotiating a treaty with the British. He indicates that the Americans attacked the treaty parties, killing a number of Indians.</dc:description><dc:description>Digital image and encoded transcription of an original manuscript, scanned, transcribed and encoded by the Digital Library of Georgia in 2001, as part of GALILEO, funded in part by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.</dc:description><dc:format>text/html</dc:format><dc:format>image/jpeg</dc:format><dc:identifier>krc098</dc:identifier><dc:language>eng</dc:language><dc:relation>Mode of access: World Wide Web.</dc:relation><dc:relation>System requirements: AT&amp;T DjVu browser plug-in needed to view images of documents.</dc:relation><dc:rights>http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/NoC-US/1.0/</dc:rights><dc:source>Manuscript held by the Hargrett Rare Book and Manuscript Library, The University of Georgia Libraries, Keith Read, box 12, folder 46, document 01.</dc:source><dc:subject>Creek Indians--Treaties</dc:subject><dc:subject>Cherokee--Treaties</dc:subject><dc:subject>United States--History--Revolution, 1775-1783</dc:subject><dc:subject>United States--History--Revolution, 1775-1783--Participation, Indian</dc:subject><dc:title>[Letter] 1781 Mar. 2, Henry County, Virginia / Stephen Heard</dc:title><dc:type>Text</dc:type></oai_dc:dc>
