Habersham reports that he received a letter from John Woods (originally enclosed but no longer attached) in which Woods states that he is traveling with a party of Choctaws en route to Savannah on public business. In addition, a man from the area of the Oconee River has related to Habersham that a group of Creek men were hunting along the river and that they were friendly and peaceful toward the white settlers. Habersham briefly discusses the surveying that is currently underway and informs Houstoun that the surveyors are unscrupulous and generally disliked.</dc:description><dc:description>Digital image and encoded transcription of an original manuscript, scanned, transcribed and encoded by the Digital Library of Georgia in 2001, as part of GALILEO, funded in part by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.</dc:description><dc:format>text/html</dc:format><dc:format>image/jpeg</dc:format><dc:identifier>krc092</dc:identifier><dc:language>eng</dc:language><dc:relation>Mode of access: World Wide Web.</dc:relation><dc:relation>System requirements: AT&amp;T DjVu browser plug-in needed to view images of documents.</dc:relation><dc:rights>http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/NoC-US/1.0/</dc:rights><dc:source>Manuscript held by the Hargrett Rare Book and Manuscript Library, The University of Georgia Libraries, Keith Read, box 11, folder 18, document 01.</dc:source><dc:subject>Creek Indians</dc:subject><dc:subject>Choctaw Indians</dc:subject><dc:subject>Surveying</dc:subject><dc:title>[Letter] 1784 June 19, Augusta, [Georgia to] John Houstoun, [Governor of Georgia] / John Habersham</dc:title><dc:type>Text</dc:type></oai_dc:dc>
