The author pays particular attention to a portrait of George M. Troup, Governor of Georgia (1823-1827), and indicates that the artist tried to capture Troup during the "exciting" phase of his career during which the federal government and the state of Georgia were in conflict regarding the various Indian nations within Georgia borders. Portraits of John Clark, former Governor of Georgia (1819-1823), William H. Crawford, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and Andrew Jackson are also mentioned.</dc:description><dc:description>Digital image and encoded transcription of an original manuscript, scanned, transcribed and encoded by the Digital Library of Georgia in 2001, as part of GALILEO, funded in part by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.</dc:description><dc:format>text/html</dc:format><dc:format>image/jpeg</dc:format><dc:identifier>krc087</dc:identifier><dc:language>eng</dc:language><dc:relation>Mode of access: World Wide Web.</dc:relation><dc:relation>System requirements: AT&amp;T DjVu browser plug-in needed to view images of documents.</dc:relation><dc:rights>http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/NoC-US/1.0/</dc:rights><dc:source>Manuscript held by the Hargrett Rare Book and Manuscript Library, The University of Georgia Libraries, Keith Read, box 09, folder 09, document 01.</dc:source><dc:subject>Five Civilized Tribes--Government relations</dc:subject><dc:subject>Georgia.
