It is unclear by whom the entries were written and much of it is quoted from other unnamed sources. The bulk of the document relates to early British settlement of the colony of Georgia and the role James Oglethorpe played in the early history of the region. One extracted letter refers to the settlement known as Yamacraw by the local Indians (probably the Yamacraw Indians, later part of the Creek Nation with whom Oglethorpe had routine contact and dealings).</dc:description><dc:description>Digital image and encoded transcription of an original manuscript, scanned, transcribed and encoded by the Digital Library of Georgia in 2001, as part of GALILEO, funded in part by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.</dc:description><dc:format>text/html</dc:format><dc:format>image/jpeg</dc:format><dc:identifier>krc086</dc:identifier><dc:language>eng</dc:language><dc:relation>Mode of access: World Wide Web.</dc:relation><dc:relation>System requirements: AT&amp;T DjVu browser plug-in needed to view images of documents.</dc:relation><dc:rights>http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/NoC-US/1.0/</dc:rights><dc:source>Manuscript held by the Hargrett Rare Book and Manuscript Library, The University of Georgia Libraries, Keith Read, box 09, folder 01, document 01.</dc:source><dc:subject>Yamassee Indians</dc:subject><dc:subject>Oglethorpe, James Edward, 1696-1785</dc:subject><dc:subject>Georgia--History--Colonial period, ca. 1600-1775</dc:subject><dc:title>[Journal entries pertaining to] the Colony of Georgia, [James] Oglethorpe, [and] Yammacraw [i.e. Yamacraw], 1732 Feb. 3 [to] 1732 Mar. 24</dc:title><dc:type>Text</dc:type></oai_dc:dc>
