Wilde, dated January 24, 1826. Forsyth details a number of political happenings in Washington. In addition, he refers to the efforts of James Barbour, Secretary of War (1825-1828), to negotiate a treaty with the "hostile Indians" in which land around the Buzzard's Roost would revert to the Indians. The treaty referred to is probably the Treaty of Washington (1826), between the U.S. and the Creek Nation, which took the place of the fraudulent Treaty of Indian Springs (1825).</dc:description><dc:description>Digital image and encoded transcription of an original manuscript, scanned, transcribed and encoded by the Digital Library of Georgia in 2001, as part of GALILEO, funded in part by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.</dc:description><dc:format>text/html</dc:format><dc:format>image/jpeg</dc:format><dc:identifier>krc084</dc:identifier><dc:language>eng</dc:language><dc:relation>Mode of access: World Wide Web.</dc:relation><dc:relation>System requirements: AT&amp;T DjVu browser plug-in needed to view images of documents.</dc:relation><dc:rights>http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/NoC-US/1.0/</dc:rights><dc:source>Manuscript held by the Hargrett Rare Book and Manuscript Library, The University of Georgia Libraries, Keith Read, box 08, folder 21, document 01.</dc:source><dc:subject>Creek Indians--Treaties</dc:subject><dc:subject>Creek Indians--Government relations</dc:subject><dc:subject>United States--Politics and government--1825-1829</dc:subject><dc:title>[Letter] 1826 Jan. 24, Washington [D.C. to] R[ichard] H.
