Few chronicles his life from his birth in Baltimore, Maryland in 1748, to his childhood in North Carolina and his extensive public service in Georgia, to his late adult life in New York. Few describes his military service in Georgia during the Revolutionary War as well as his extensive political career, which included serving in the Georgia Assembly, holding various offices such as Commissioner of Confiscated Estates and Surveyor General, and serving in the Continental Congress during the 1780s. He also served in the Constitutional Congress and was one of two Georgians who signed the Constitution. Few was also involved in treaty negotiations with the Creek Indians, and he blamed Creek leader Alexander McGillivray for their failure to come to an agreement about land rights in the area. By about 1800, when he moved with his family to the state of New York, Few had become disillusioned with politics, but he served several years in the New York state legislature and held various other state offices such as Commissioner of Loans and was director of several banks. Few does not chronicle his life past that point, but his career in public service ended when he died in New York in 1828. He is buried in Augusta, Georgia.</dc:description><dc:description>Digital image and encoded transcription of an original manuscript, scanned, transcribed and encoded by the Digital Library of Georgia in 2001, as part of GALILEO, funded in part by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.</dc:description><dc:format>text/html</dc:format><dc:format>image/jpeg</dc:format><dc:identifier>krc083</dc:identifier><dc:language>eng</dc:language><dc:relation>Mode of access: World Wide Web.</dc:relation><dc:relation>System requirements: AT&amp;T DjVu browser plug-in needed to view images of documents.</dc:relation><dc:rights>http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/NoC-US/1.0/</dc:rights><dc:source>Manuscript held by the Hargrett Rare Book and Manuscript Library, The University of Georgia Libraries, Keith Read, box 08, folder 08, document 01.</dc:source><dc:subject>United States.
