Page: [1] Augusta June 1st 1783 Dear Sir I have to acknowledge your favor of the 20th Ulto [Ultimo] since which we have been honored with A visit of the Bird, the Tarpen, the Young Warrior, and sundry -- other Chiefs and beloved Men from thirteen Towns of the Cherokee Nation, who have with much unanimity and cheerfullness [cheerfulness] agreed to relinquish and quit Claim to all the Land on this side of A line to be drawn from that part of the [unclear text: Kewee ] which lies North East from the Ocunney Mountain and from the top of said Mountain So [South] West to the Tugalo from there to the top of Corrohee Mountain [added text (appears to be different hand and ink): not ] Page: [2] [added text (appears to be different hand and ink): 7 ] and from thence to the head of the most Southern stream of the Oconee River then down that stream as far as their Claim extends, which by estimation will include at least [deleted text: atleast ] one Million of Acres -- No farther intiligence [intelligence] from the Creek Indians, it is generally believed by the traders & those who are conversant with them that since the late change in our affairs there will not be much difficulty in geting [getting] them to relinquish as far as the Oconee, which will I think be as far as the interest of this state requires at this time -- I am Dr [Dear] Sir Your Most Obdt Servt [Obedient Servant] [Signed] W [William] Few [added text (appears to be different hand and ink): 4.00 ] [added text: [illegible text] Tefft ]
