This copy was prepared on September 21, 1835 by William A. Tennille, Georgia Secretary of State (1833-1843). The land was acquired by the state of Georgia from the Creek and Cherokee Indians in 1817 and 1819 treaties (namely the Treaty of the Cherokee Agency, 1817, and the Treaty of Washington, D.C., 1819).
